Aeonus is an atmospheric black metal project from Yoshkar‑Ola in the Mari El Republic, active since 2016. The project’s sound is defined by cold, hypnotic riffing, minimalist structures, and a strong emphasis on cosmic bleakness and nocturnal atmosphere. Aeonus blends traditional atmospheric black metal with raw ambient elements, creating music that feels distant, desolate, and immersed in themes of night, death, nature, and primordial chaos.
The debut full‑length 47303652367904000000 (2017) introduced the project’s stark aesthetic, pairing repetitive, trance‑like guitar lines with cavernous vocals and a lo‑fi, otherworldly production style. The follow‑up album Деvять (2018) expanded the project’s atmospheric scope, incorporating deeper ambient textures and a more ritualistic sense of pacing. In 2021, Aeonus released the single Hymn to Frost Cold as Death, a work that distilled the project’s core identity into a colder, more focused form.
Aeonus remains a solitary vision, created and performed entirely by Mordorkonan, whose approach emphasizes isolation, introspection, and the vast, indifferent forces of nature and the cosmos.
