Aeraxyz is a Slovak black metal/ambient project founded in 2022 in Nesluša, Žilina. Conceived as an exploration of dark mythology and cosmic‑ritual atmospheres, the band blends raw black metal foundations with meditative ambient textures, kalimba drones, and spectral vocal layering. Their sound is intentionally minimalistic yet evocative, rooted in the cold, introspective character of the Slovak underground while incorporating experimental elements that set them apart from more traditional acts.
The project’s debut EP Aeraxyz (2023) introduced their aesthetic: lo‑fi tremolo riffs drifting over cavernous ambience, ritual percussion, and whispered invocations. Listeners in underground circles noted the project’s ability to merge harshness with dreamlike, otherworldly moods, drawing comparisons to early atmospheric black metal as well as dungeon synth‑adjacent soundscapes. The EP established Aeraxyz as a young but promising presence in the Slovak scene.
By 2025, the band released their second EP Nox, a darker and more refined work that expanded their mythological themes and deepened their ambient dimension. The interplay between Dead Queen’s spectral guitar work and kalimba motifs, Geist’s restrained yet expressive drumming, and Vilkenthrasher’s multi‑instrumental direction created a more cohesive and immersive sonic identity. Nox was received as a significant step forward, showing the band’s growing confidence in crafting nocturnal, ritualistic atmospheres.
Aeraxyz remains an active and evolving project, with its members simultaneously involved in other Slovak underground acts such as The Myth of Mortifer, OhnivĹ«tigrĹ«, and VesmĂrna Noc. Their trajectory suggests a continued push toward hybrid forms of black metal and ambient ritualism, guided by a fascination with mythic darkness and cosmic symbolism.
