Autumn’s Kingdom was a short‑lived atmospheric black metal project from Podolsk, founded in September 2012 by the prolific multi‑instrumentalist B.M. Despite its brief existence, the project left a notable mark on the Russian atmospheric scene through its deeply melancholic, autumn‑themed soundscapes and its connection to the creative lineage that would later produce Skyforest, A Light in the Dark, and other influential projects.

The music of Autumn’s Kingdom revolved around sorrowful melodies, soft tremolo passages, and a strong sense of seasonal nostalgia. B.M.’s approach emphasized emotional atmosphere over aggression, crafting songs that evoked falling leaves, fading warmth, and the quiet decay of late autumn. The project’s aesthetic aligned with the more melodic, introspective branch of atmospheric black metal, drawing underground attention for its sincerity and evocative mood.

The band’s first release, Demo I (2012), introduced this autumnal vision with raw production but strong melodic foundations. Demo II (2013) refined the formula, offering clearer arrangements and a more immersive emotional tone. Both demos were well‑received in niche circles, praised for their ability to convey melancholy through minimalistic yet expressive songwriting.

The self‑titled full‑length Autumn’s Kingdom (2013) marked the project’s culmination. Released on August 17th, 2013—the same day the band officially dissolved—it showcased B.M.’s fully realized atmospheric style: sweeping guitar layers, gentle keyboard textures, and a pervasive sense of fading beauty. The album is often regarded as a precursor to the melodic sensibilities later perfected in Skyforest and A Light in the Dark, making it an important early chapter in B.M.’s artistic evolution.

Autumn’s Kingdom existed only for a single year, briefly disbanding in January 2013, reforming in February, and ending permanently upon the album’s release. Its short lifespan and emotionally charged material have given it a cult status among fans of Russian atmospheric black metal, who view it as a fleeting but essential expression of autumnal melancholy.
