Baalberith was a black/death metal band from Yoshkar‑Ola, active between 2007 and 2014 and known for its aggressive, blasphemous aesthetic and raw, violent sound. Emerging from the Mari El underground, the band combined the harshness of traditional black metal with the heaviness and brutality of death metal, creating a style rooted in relentless riffing, harsh vocals, and themes centered on death, Satanic ideology, and anti‑Christian sentiment.

The project was founded and anchored by Northern, bassist and owner of the label Northern Triumph, which became the band’s primary platform for releases. Early material such as the Kanaan King demo (2007) and the video single The Death of Renunciation (2008) established Baalberith’s uncompromising approach—raw production, fast tempos, and a hostile, anti‑religious atmosphere.

Their first full‑length, Buried Alive (2011), showcased a more structured and forceful sound, drawing attention within the Russian extreme metal underground for its blend of blackened aggression and death metal weight. The album’s harsh vocal delivery and dense guitar work reflected the band’s commitment to a violent, unfiltered aesthetic. The following year saw the release of the split Black Death March (2012), further cementing their reputation for intensity and extremity.

Baalberith’s second full‑length, Desire to Kill (2012), pushed their sound into even more brutal territory. Underground reviews often highlighted its raw energy, relentless pacing, and the band’s refusal to soften their approach. The EP Beheaded Bastards (2014) became their final release, capturing the band at their most aggressive before disbanding later that year.

Throughout their existence, Baalberith underwent numerous lineup changes, but the core creative force remained the duo of Northern and Ramhorn, whose combined vision shaped the band’s identity. Their work contributed to the regional black/death metal scene and left behind a small but fiercely intense discography that continues to appeal to fans of raw, uncompromising extreme metal.
