Bloody Virgin was a short‑lived melodic death/black metal band active in northern Germany between 2007 and 2013. Emerging from the Elmshorn–Hamburg region, the band combined sharp melodic riffing with blackened aggression and a touch of keyboard‑driven atmosphere. Their sound leaned toward the energetic, emotionally charged style typical of late‑2000s German melodic extreme metal, with a focus on melody, contrast, and dramatic tension.

Origins & Activity (2007–2008)

The band formed in 2007 and quickly assembled a lineup featuring dual guitars, keyboards, and a rhythm section capable of supporting both melodic passages and harsher blackened elements. Their only full‑length, Preserve Innocence (2008), captured the band at their most cohesive: melodic leads, driving riffs, and a blend of harsh vocals with atmospheric keyboard layers.

The album reflects a youthful but ambitious approach—raw in places, melodic at its core, and rooted in the hybrid death/black metal style that was gaining traction in Germany at the time.

Lineup & Later Years (2009–2013)

Bloody Virgin’s lineup saw several changes, particularly in the bass and vocal positions. The last known formation included:

  • Barry S. – bass
  • Marco W. – drums
  • Tobi D. – guitars
  • Martin D. – guitars
  • Birjer H. – keyboards

Earlier members included bassist Joolz, bassist Ecke, and vocalist Gerrit, who shaped the band’s initial sound.

Despite a promising start, the band’s activity slowed after their debut, and by 2013 they had quietly dissolved without further releases.

Identity & Legacy

Bloody Virgin remains a small but notable entry in the northern German melodic extreme metal underground. Their music is remembered for:

  • melodic death/black metal with keyboard atmosphere
  • energetic dual‑guitar interplay
  • a raw but earnest late‑2000s aesthetic
  • a single full‑length that encapsulates their entire creative output

Though their time was brief, Preserve Innocence stands as a snapshot of a regional scene full of young, ambitious bands blending melody with extremity.
