Celtibeers was a folk metal band from Castellón de la Plana, active during the second half of the 2000s and known for their festive, beer‑soaked approach to Celtic‑influenced metal. Their name referenced the ancient Celtiberians, a Celtic‑speaking people of the Iberian Peninsula, and the band embraced this heritage with a humorous, celebratory tone that set them apart from the more mythic or epic‑leaning Spanish folk metal acts of the era.

Musically, Celtibeers fused upbeat heavy metal riffing with prominent folk instrumentation—flute, violin, mandolin, bouzouki, and lively percussion—creating a sound rooted in Celtic dance rhythms and drinking‑hall energy. Their songs leaned heavily into party themes, catchy melodies, and an atmosphere designed for live celebration, making them a recognizable presence in the Valencian Community’s underground scene.

Their self‑titled debut Celtibeers (2007) introduced this formula with straightforward, energetic songwriting and a strong folk presence. The follow‑up Sin miedo (2008), released through Santo Grial Records, expanded their visibility and solidified their reputation as a fun, crowd‑oriented folk metal act. The album featured more polished arrangements and a tighter interplay between guitars and folk instruments, earning them a modest but enthusiastic following.

Celtibeers’ lineup included musicians who were active in other regional folk and metal projects, such as Metal Cambra and Asgaya, contributing to the band’s strong folk instrumentation and scene connections. Despite their momentum, the band eventually dissolved, leaving behind two full‑length albums that capture a specific moment in Spanish folk metal—one defined by celebration, Celtic identity, and an unpretentious, festive spirit.
