Celticröm was a folk metal band from Madrid active between 2014 and 2018, emerging during a period of renewed interest in Iberian folk‑infused metal. Their sound combined traditional heavy metal foundations with prominent folk instrumentation—flute, violin, and melodic dual‑guitar work—creating an energetic and festive approach rooted in Celtic atmospheres and medieval‑inspired melodies.
The band’s only official release, the EP Oro y fuego (2016), captured their stylistic identity with bright, melodic arrangements and a strong emphasis on folk instrumentation. The EP showcased lively flute passages, violin harmonies, and rhythmic interplay that gave their music a celebratory, dance‑driven character. Vocals by Yohana Cano added a melodic and expressive dimension, contrasting with the heavier guitar lines and giving the songs a distinctly uplifting tone.
Celticröm quickly became known in the Madrid underground for their spirited live performances, where their blend of folk instrumentation and metal energy translated into an engaging stage presence. Their music leaned toward accessible, melody‑rich songwriting rather than the darker or more aggressive tendencies found in other branches of Spanish folk metal, placing them closer to the festive, Celtic‑inspired tradition.
Despite their promising start, the band’s activity ceased around 2018, leaving behind a single EP that remains a snapshot of their brief but vibrant contribution to the Spanish folk metal scene. Members later continued their musical paths in various local projects, carrying forward the folk‑metal spirit that defined Celticröm’s short existence.
