Choir of Revenge was a short‑lived melodic black/death metal project from Affoltern am Albis, Zürich, active in the early 2010s. Though their existence was brief and their output limited, the band left behind a small but intriguing mark on the Swiss underground through their raw, emotionally charged blend of melodic aggression and blackened atmosphere.

Their sole release, the Apocalypse Demo 2011, captures the essence of the project: sharp, melodic riffing layered over harsh vocals, with a sound that sits at the crossroads of early Scandinavian melodic black metal and the darker edge of melodic death metal. The demo’s atmosphere leans toward apocalyptic tension and cold melancholy, reflecting the band’s thematic direction even in the absence of officially stated lyrical concepts.

The entire project was driven by a single musician, M. Schmidlin, who handled all instruments and vocals. This one‑person structure gave Choir of Revenge a focused, personal sound—raw, unfiltered, and rooted in the DIY ethos of the Swiss extreme metal underground.

Though the band dissolved quietly and produced no further releases, Apocalypse Demo 2011 remains a snapshot of a moment in the Swiss scene when many small, self‑produced projects were experimenting with melodic black/death hybrids. Choir of Revenge stands as one of those obscure but memorable entries.
