ColdShade was formed in Olbia, Sardinia, as the personal creative outlet of Pietro Deledda, whose work blends atmospheric doom metal with a strong sense of emotional weight and introspective melancholy. Emerging from the Sardinian underground, the project quickly developed a distinctive identity built on slow, immersive riffs, mournful melodies, and a minimalist yet evocative approach to composition. ColdShade’s music often feels like a solitary journey through desolate inner landscapes, shaped by themes of isolation, decay, and the quiet heaviness of memory.

From the beginning, ColdShade embraced a prolific and exploratory path. The debut album Fall (2013) introduced a sound rooted in atmospheric doom but tinged with post‑metal sensibilities and a raw emotional core. Each subsequent release expanded the project’s sonic palette while maintaining its introspective foundation. SeaSon (2014) and Stonage (2015) deepened the project’s connection to nature and cyclical transformation, while Melophobia (2016) explored more experimental textures, weaving dissonance and ambience into the doom framework.

The late 2010s marked a period of rapid evolution. Colors (2017) and Mono (2018) showcased a more refined production and a stronger emphasis on mood, with layered guitars and somber vocal lines creating a dreamlike, almost cinematic atmosphere. Sinner (2019) pushed the emotional intensity further, while Okami (2020) introduced a darker, more dramatic tone, drawing inspiration from mythic and psychological themes.

Despite operating independently, ColdShade has built a consistent and recognizable artistic identity. Pietro’s involvement in other projects—such as Cannot, Reliever, and III—has contributed to the project’s fluid blend of doom, post‑metal, and atmospheric elements. His ability to craft emotionally resonant soundscapes with minimal resources has earned ColdShade a quiet but dedicated following within the Italian underground.
