Deep Red Blood

Origin: Spain
Formed: 2006
Genre: Melodic Black / Death Metal
Status: Split‑up
Label: Unsigned / Independent

Deep Red Blood was a melodic black/death metal band from Elche (Valencian Community), active between 2006 and 2012. Although their recorded output was limited, the band carved out a place in the local underground through a blend of melodic aggression, dual‑guitar harmonies, and a mixture of harsh vocals with atmospheric touches. Their sound drew from Scandinavian melodic black/death traditions while maintaining a raw, DIY edge typical of the Valencian extreme metal scene of the late 2000s.

Their only known release, the EP Red Dawn (2009), showcased the band’s stylistic identity: sharp, melodic riffing, dynamic interplay between guitars, and a vocal approach that balanced blackened harshness with death‑metal weight. The EP circulated locally and online, earning the band a modest following and positioning them among the more promising emerging acts in the region.

Deep Red Blood’s lineup featured musicians connected to several other Valencian and Alicante‑area projects, including Mortis Cruentus, Neptunian Sun, Hela, and Criosanda. This cross‑pollination contributed to the band’s melodic sensibility and technical proficiency. Despite this, internal changes—particularly in the rhythm section and vocal department—seem to have contributed to the project’s eventual dissolution around 2012.

Though short‑lived, Deep Red Blood remains a small but notable entry in the Valencian melodic black/death metal underground, remembered for their strong musicianship and the promise shown on Red Dawn.
