Desire began in Moita, SetĂşbal in 2005 as an atmospheric melodic black/death metal project marked by themes of feeling, sorrow, and morbid storytelling. The band’s early identity was rooted in emotional intensity and melodic structures, later undergoing a name change to Agnorisis, under which they continued to refine their sound. Their formative period was defined by a blend of blackened aggression and melodic death metal sensibilities, shaped by a young lineup exploring post‑apocalyptic imagery, personal turmoil, and the darker edges of human experience.

After relocating their creative center to the South Bohemian Region of Czechia, the band evolved into a more structured and active entity, eventually stabilizing under the name Desire once more. Formed officially in 2009 in Týn nad Vltavou/Zliv, they initially embraced melodic black metal before shifting toward a heavier, modern metalcore‑infused approach. This transition expanded their thematic scope to include anti‑religious critique, global collapse, and dystopian futures, while retaining the emotional weight of their Portuguese origins.

Their first demo Angels of Revenge (2010) introduced a raw, aggressive sound that set the stage for their debut full‑length At Dawn of Abysmal Ruination (2014), a record that established their presence in the Czech underground. The EP The Rotten Blood and the split Damnation & the Rotten Brood (both 2016) showcased a darker, more refined direction, while Visions (2017) marked their most cohesive and ambitious work, blending atmospheric elements with sharpened melodic structures.

Across shifting lineups, the core has remained anchored by vocalist/guitarist Ziky, keyboardist/vocalist Johny, and bassist Vlajda, later joined by guitarist Marek Horváth and drummer OndĹ™ej Horváth, whose contributions strengthened the band’s technical and rhythmic foundation. Recent singles such as Give Me Your Eyes (2024) and Frozen (2025) reflect a modernized, emotionally charged sound that merges their black metal roots with contemporary heaviness.

Desire stands today as a hybrid of their Portuguese beginnings and Czech evolution—melodic, intense, and driven by a persistent fascination with ruin, transformation, and the darker narratives of the human condition.
