Biography

Disguise is a black metal band from Rome, Lazio, formed in 1999 and active ever since. Emerging from the harsher, more militant side of the Italian underground, the band forged a sound defined by relentless aggression, minimalist riffing, and a stark, war‑driven atmosphere. Their music channels themes of war, destruction, and anti‑humanism, expressed through blast‑driven structures, commanding vocals, and an uncompromisingly hostile tone.

From their earliest demo Impetus Mali / Mors Fidei (2001), Disguise established a raw and confrontational identity, one that rejects ornamentation in favor of direct, violent expression. Their debut full‑length Human Primordial Instinct (2003) expanded this approach with sharper production and a more cohesive martial aesthetic. Subsequent releases such as Late (2007) and Second Coming (2012) continued to refine their sound while maintaining the band’s core philosophy: black metal as a weapon, stripped of sentiment and aimed squarely at the collapse of human constructs.

Despite operating independently, Disguise has remained a consistent presence in the Italian scene, driven by a stable lineup of musicians committed to a vision of black metal that is militant, nihilistic, and fiercely uncompromising.

🕸️ Aesthetic & Intent

Disguise embodies a militant and nihilistic strain of black metal, with a sound likely rooted in blast-driven aggression, minimalist riffing, and harsh, commanding vocals. Their thematic focus on war and destruction suggests a sonic invocation of collapse — both societal and spiritual.

The band’s Roman origin may subtly inform their aesthetic with imperial or apocalyptic undertones, though their stance remains fiercely anti-human and iconoclastic.
