Dreamfall was a folk metal band from Segurilla (Toledo province, Castile‑La Mancha), active between 2009 and 2014. Their music blended melodic folk elements—flute, bagpipes, acoustic textures—with a metal foundation rooted in both traditional heavy metal and melodic death influences. Lyrically, they moved between fantasy storytelling, local legends, social commentary, and introspective themes, giving their work a personal and narrative‑driven character.
Their first recorded work, the Dreamfall demo (2012), introduced their sound: warm folk melodies, dual guitars, and clean vocals supported by occasional harsher edges. The demo circulated locally and online, helping the band gain visibility in the Castilian underground.
In 2013, they released their only full‑length, Sueños en la atalaya, a more ambitious and polished work that showcased their strongest songwriting. The album leaned heavily into folk instrumentation and melodic arrangements, with lyrics that explored mythic imagery, emotional struggles, and reflections on society. It remains the band’s defining statement.
Despite the promise shown on their debut album, Dreamfall announced their dissolution on January 13th, 2014, ending their activity after five years. Several members later continued making music in the folk/pagan metal project ProfecĂa, carrying forward some of Dreamfall’s melodic and thematic sensibilities.
Dreamfall remains a small but meaningful entry in the Castilian folk‑metal landscape—an earnest, melodic, and heartfelt project whose brief existence left behind a single, well‑remembered album.
