Eisflammen is an atmospheric black metal band from Yekaterinburg, founded in 2013 and known for its cold, expansive sound rooted in themes of winter, nature, and mortality. Their name—German for “ice flames”—captures the duality at the heart of their music: harsh, frostbitten black metal infused with melodic warmth, introspective moods, and a sense of elemental grandeur. Over the years, Eisflammen have become a notable presence in the Ural black metal scene, balancing raw aggression with immersive, nature‑driven atmospheres.
The band’s debut full‑length В стихии... (2015) introduced their core aesthetic: icy tremolo riffs, mid‑tempo rhythmic surges, and a strong emphasis on melodic guitar interplay. The album’s atmosphere drew comparisons to the broader Siberian and Ural atmospheric black metal tradition, where vast landscapes and harsh climates shape the emotional tone of the music. Critics and underground listeners praised the album for its sincerity and its ability to evoke winter’s desolate beauty.
In 2019, Eisflammen released the demo Touristic Black Metal, a rawer and more spontaneous recording that showcased the band’s willingness to experiment with tone and structure. Despite its intentionally unpolished nature, the demo received positive feedback for its energy and its blend of rugged black metal with atmospheric flourishes.
The live album Live in Tumen 2020 captured the band’s onstage presence, highlighting their tight musicianship and the emotional weight of their performances. The recording demonstrated how their layered studio sound translates into a powerful, immersive live experience.
Eisflammen continued to refine their style with the singles Под натиском воли and Огни костров (both 2021), which introduced a more dynamic and expressive approach to songwriting. These tracks hinted at the direction the band would fully embrace on their 2022 full‑length Следуй за мной. This album marked a significant step forward, offering richer production, deeper emotional resonance, and a more cohesive narrative flow. The band’s lineup has remained remarkably stable since its formation, with each member contributing to Eisflammen’s evolving identity. Their connection to other notable Ural and Siberian acts—such as Elderwind, Gherzen, and Teach Me Violence—has further embedded them within a vibrant regional scene known for atmospheric depth and emotional authenticity.
