Entropia formed in 2007 in OleĹ›nica, Lower Silesia, and quickly became one of the most distinctive forces in Poland’s post‑black metal underground. Their sound—an evolving fusion of black metal, sludge, post‑metal, and experimental ambience—has always been rooted in emotional extremity. Depression, pain, and the raw texture of lived experience form the thematic core of their work, expressed through dense, hypnotic riffing, dissonant layering, and a rhythmic pulse that shifts between trance‑like repetition and explosive release. Rather than adhering to any single tradition, Entropia built a sonic identity defined by transformation, tension, and a constant push toward the unknown.

The founding duo of vocalist/guitarist/sound architect MichaĹ‚ Dziedzic and drummer Patryk Budzowski established the band’s early direction, blending harsh blackened elements with atmospheric experimentation. Their earliest collaborators—guitarist MichaĹ‚ Duda, bassist/vocalist Marek CeĹ„kar, and keyboardist Damian Dudek—helped shape the band’s formative sound, which leaned heavily into post‑metal textures and psychedelic undertones. Over time, the lineup evolved: guitarist Kuba CoĹ‚ta joined in 2014, bringing a sharper melodic sensibility and a more progressive edge, while bassist Krzysztof “Kheram” Majcher entered in 2022, solidifying the current rhythm section. Dudek’s departure in 2025 marked the end of the band’s long‑standing use of keyboards as a central atmospheric tool.

Their first demo, Let’s Leave Before This Place Thaws (2009), introduced a raw, exploratory version of their sound—icy, depressive, and steeped in post‑black melancholy. The Chimera EP (2010) expanded their palette with thicker sludge influences and more deliberate pacing, hinting at the stylistic breadth that would define their later work.

The breakthrough came with Vesper (2013), a debut full‑length that earned strong underground acclaim for its blend of black metal aggression, psychedelic haze, and post‑metal expansiveness. Critics praised its emotional weight and its ability to merge hypnotic repetition with cathartic climaxes. Ufonaut (2016) pushed further into experimentation, incorporating krautrock rhythms, cosmic ambience, and a more avant‑garde approach to structure. The album was widely regarded as a major step forward, placing Entropia among the most forward‑thinking Polish extreme metal acts of the decade.

Vacuum (2018) deepened their exploration of psychedelic black metal, with swirling textures, ritualistic rhythms, and a suffocating atmosphere that reflected the album’s conceptual focus on emptiness, dissolution, and the collapse of identity. Its reception was overwhelmingly positive, with many reviewers noting its immersive production and its seamless fusion of genres.

Their most recent album, Total (2023), represents the culmination of Entropia’s evolution: a dense, overwhelming, and meticulously constructed work that blends black metal, sludge, industrial pulse, and psychedelic noise into a single, monolithic statement. The album’s thematic focus on dissolution, sensory overload, and existential fragmentation is mirrored in its sound—chaotic yet controlled, abrasive yet hypnotic. It has been hailed as one of the band’s most ambitious and uncompromising releases.

With a growing international presence, a contribution to Trip to Poland II (2025), and a reputation for intense, immersive live performances, Entropia stands as one of Poland’s most innovative extreme metal acts. Their trajectory continues to move forward—restless, transformative, and unbound by genre.
