Erzsébet is a Barcelona‑based Symphonic Black Metal band formed in 2020, conceptually centered on the figure of Elizabeth Bathory. Their music blends the cold ferocity of black metal with dramatic orchestral arrangements, gothic atmospheres, and a strong narrative focus on decadence, cruelty, and aristocratic horror. From the beginning, the band positioned itself within the more theatrical and baroque side of the genre, combining sharp riffing and blast beats with operatic vocals, dark choirs, and cinematic sound design.

The project introduced itself with two singles in 2021—“Wraiths Behind the Mirror” and “ErzsĂ©bet”—which quickly established their sonic identity: icy tremolo lines, symphonic layers, and a vocal performance that alternates between harsh extremity and ritualistic, commanding presence. These early tracks led to the release of their debut EP, “The Blasphemous Lady” (2021), a work praised in underground circles for its cohesive atmosphere and its ability to merge historical horror with modern symphonic black metal aesthetics.

After a brief period of silence, ErzsĂ©bet returned in 2024 with the singles “Wherefore” and “Domina Vestra,” both showcasing a more refined production, denser orchestration, and a heightened sense of dramatic tension. These releases paved the way for their first full‑length album, “Six Hundred and Fifty” (2024), a concept album exploring the mythos surrounding the alleged 650 victims attributed to Elizabeth Bathory. The record stands as their most ambitious work to date, weaving together symphonic grandeur, black metal aggression, and a narrative arc steeped in blood, power, and gothic mysticism.

The band’s lineup features musicians with extensive experience in the Spanish and European underground, contributing to the project’s technical precision and theatrical flair. ErzsĂ©bet’s music continues to resonate with fans of symphonic black metal who appreciate a blend of historical darkness, operatic intensity, and atmospheric depth.
