“Forja” means forge in Catalan.
The band performs entirely in Catalan, weaving historical, literary, and fantastical narratives into a melodic, folkâinfused power metal framework.
Forja emerged in 2012 as one of the few Catalanâlanguage folk/power metal bands, quickly gaining recognition for their blend of energetic riffing, traditional instruments, and storytelling rooted in Catalan historyâespecially the AlmogĂ vers, medieval CatalanâAragonese mercenaries whose exploits have become part of regional legend. Their music also explores fantasy, folklore, and speculative fiction, giving the band a broad thematic palette.
Their early releasesâ“Desperta Ferro” (2013) and “Tornant de la batalla” (2015)âestablished their identity: triumphant melodies, folk instrumentation, and lyrics steeped in Catalan cultural memory. The debut album “El llibre dels feyts” (2017) expanded this vision, drawing from medieval chronicles and epic narratives.
After a period of singles and lineup evolution, Forja returned with a series of releases in 2024 leading up to their second fullâlength, “MĂłn oblidat”, a work that blends myth, nature, and speculative storytelling with their signature melodic power metal sound.
They also appeared on the compilation Metal Madness (At Sea Compilations, 2022) with the track “El nom del vent.”
