Forlet Sires was one of the most emotionally heavy and atmospheric black/doom metal bands to emerge from Switzerland in the 2010s. Formed in Winterthur (Zürich) in 2013, the band crafted a sound steeped in suffocating melancholy, slow‑burning despair, and the crushing weight of psychological suffering. Their music blended the bleak expansiveness of atmospheric black metal with the oppressive gravity of doom, resulting in long, immersive compositions that felt both intimate and overwhelming.
Their debut Demo I (2014) introduced this aesthetic with raw vulnerability and a sense of looming collapse. The full‑length Journey Towards Ruin (2016) expanded their sonic palette, weaving mournful guitar lines, cavernous atmospheres, and anguished vocals into a cohesive descent into emotional ruin.
In 2019, the band released Holy, their final and most refined work. The album deepened their exploration of mental pain and hopelessness, with a cleaner yet still crushing production and a more mature sense of pacing. Shortly after, Forlet Sires disbanded, leaving behind a small but deeply affecting discography that continues to resonate within the Swiss atmospheric underground.
The members—many of whom are active in other notable Swiss projects—brought a unique synergy that shaped the band’s bleak, immersive sound.
