Glaumni at Vaða originated in Snåsa as an esoteric atmospheric black metal project shaped first under the earlier name Grimskodd before assuming its definitive identity in 2015. From the beginning, the project has pursued a solitary, introspective path, channeling themes of existence, spirituality, and the hidden structures of consciousness through long, meditative compositions. Its early work, including the single Black Equinox Rising and the debut album Voice from a Distant Star (both 2015), established a sound built on drifting tremolo layers, cosmic ambience, and a sense of vast inner distance.

After several years of silence, Glaumni at Vaða resurfaced in 2021 with Nebula Black Principle and the EP Simulacra Diabolicum, releases that deepened the project’s metaphysical focus and expanded its sonic palette into more ritualistic and abstract territory. Subsequent works such as Secula Omne (2022) and the later singles continued this trajectory, exploring the dissolution of self, the cyclical nature of being, and the tension between the material and the immaterial. The 2024 full‑length Med ett er tanken død stands as the project’s most fully realized statement, merging raw atmospheric black metal with contemplative, almost trance‑like structures. Throughout its shifting activity, Glaumni at Vaða has remained an independent and enigmatic presence, committed to a form of black metal that functions as both spiritual inquiry and existential reflection.
