Hibernia is a Cantabrian folk metal band formed in 2015, blending Celtic instrumentation with melodic metal and a strong regional identity. Their music draws heavily from northern Iberian history, Celtic myth, and the natural landscapes of Cantabria—windswept coasts, ancient forests, and the cultural memory of the Cantabrian and Astur‑Celtic world.
Their debut EP “Summerstorm” (2018) introduced their energetic, violin‑driven sound, followed by the full‑length “Celtic Furor” (2019), which established them as one of the rising names in Spanish folk metal. After a brief period of lineup changes, the band returned with new singles in 2022 and 2023, culminating in a refreshed formation in 2024 with multiple new guitarists and a new drummer.
Hibernia’s music is characterized by lively folk melodies, hurdy‑gurdy and flute passages, and a melodic metal backbone that keeps their sound both festive and emotional. Their evolution shows a band constantly expanding its instrumental palette and refining its Celtic identity.
