Ignot

Ignot was a power/folk metal band from Figueres, active between 2000 and 2005 and known for blending Catalan folk instrumentation with melodic metal structures. Their sound combined dual guitars, cello, flute, and traditional pipes, giving their music a distinctly local character rooted in Mediterranean and Pyrenean folk colors. Vocals, often carried by Alfons Gumbau, alternated between melodic lines and more dramatic passages, reinforcing the band’s emotional and narrative approach.

Their early demos “iGnot” (2001) and “Demo 02” (2002) showcased a young band experimenting with folk timbres and power‑metal energy. With the full‑length “Batec” (2005), Ignot reached their most mature and expansive sound, integrating cello, gralla, and flute into arrangements that balanced metal drive with folk authenticity. Shortly after the album’s release, the band ceased activity, leaving behind a small but distinctive contribution to early‑2000s Catalan folk metal.
