Incursed is a folk metal band formed in 2007 in Aranda de Duero by Narot Santos and Sergio Castro. In 2009 the project relocated to Bilbao, where the lineup solidified and the band began shaping the sound that would define their identity: energetic folk metal infused with northern melodies, epic atmospheres, and themes of battle, war, paganism, and nature. Their music blends melodic riffing with keyboards, harsh and clean vocals, and a strong sense of storytelling rooted in European and Basque mythic imagery.
Their debut EP “Time to Unsheathe Our Rusty Swords” (2009) introduced their early Viking/folk metal direction, followed by the full‑length “Morituri” (2010) and the acclaimed “Fimbulwinter” (2012). With “Elderslied” (2014), Incursed refined their melodic and symphonic elements, while later works such as “Amalur” (2017) and “BaskavĂgin” (2021) expanded their thematic range and production quality. The band is known for balancing serious, epic compositions with humorous or festive tracks, a duality that has become part of their signature.
Incursed remains active under Helheim Records, continuing to release new material and maintain a strong presence in the Iberian folk metal scene.
