Iter Pactum was an intensely prolific atmospheric black metal project active between 2014 and 2018, operating in the shadows of the Norwegian underground and driven by a raw, ritualistic approach to composition. From its inception, the project embraced a lo‑fi, unfiltered aesthetic, channeling cold atmospheres, occult overtones, and a relentless creative impulse that produced an unusually large body of work in a very short span of time. Its music revolved around repetitive, trance‑inducing riffs, distant screams, and a sense of primordial darkness, evoking the early spirit of the genre while leaning heavily into esoteric and introspective moods.
The year 2014 marked an explosive beginning, with Iter Pactum releasing multiple EPs, demos, and two full‑length albums—Ritual and Bringer of Evil—each capturing different facets of the project’s bleak, atmospheric vision. These recordings ranged from harsh, cavernous soundscapes to more melodic passages, unified by a commitment to atmosphere over polish. Subsequent releases, including the 2015 full‑length Kuldens vrede and the split collaborations with Flavros and Nordavindens klagesang, expanded the project’s presence within the underground while maintaining its uncompromising aesthetic. The later album Demonic Rites (2016) and the 2017 single Forest of Forgotten Souls continued this trajectory, offering darker, more refined expressions of the project’s core themes.
