Itnuveth was founded in 2013 in El Prat de Llobregat (Catalonia) as a studio‑driven pagan black metal project built around the vision of multi‑instrumentalist Volundr. From the beginning, the band embraced a raw yet melodic approach to black metal, steeped in Norse mythology, ancestral warfare, and esoteric pagan themes. Their early material quickly positioned them as one of the most prolific and conceptually focused pagan black metal acts in the Spanish underground.

Their debut album The Way of the Berserker (2014) introduced the project’s defining traits: fast tremolo‑driven riffing, epic melodic lines, and a cold, martial atmosphere. The follow‑up, Paulsilaur: Under the Wolf’s Skin (2015), expanded their mythological narrative world and solidified their reputation for crafting albums that function as sagas—each release tied to a broader conceptual universe. Critics in underground zines praised the project’s consistency, thematic cohesion, and the ability to evoke Scandinavian landscapes through a distinctly Iberian lens.

With Enchantments (2016) and Tales and Legends of Wolves (2017), Itnuveth refined their sound further, incorporating more atmospheric passages, folk‑tinged melodies, and a stronger sense of storytelling. The arrival of vocalist Funedëim in 2015 marked a turning point: his harsh, commanding vocal presence added depth and intensity, helping the band reach a wider audience within the pagan and black metal communities.

The band’s productivity continued with Enuma Elish (2020) and Anankè (2021), albums that explored mythic cosmology and fatalistic themes while maintaining the project’s signature blend of aggression and epic atmosphere. Their later releases, including the EP Sarkoud: The Soul Thief (2023) and the split Sons of Helheim (2024), show a band still evolving—introducing richer orchestrations, folk instruments, and increasingly cinematic arrangements thanks to the contributions of VĂ li and the powerful rhythmic foundation provided by drummer Adalsteinn.

Itnuveth’s presence in compilations, their steady release schedule, and the involvement of members active in numerous respected Spanish extreme metal projects have cemented their status as one of the most enduring and prolific pagan black metal entities in Spain. Their work continues to revolve around myth, battle, and spiritual transformation, delivered with unwavering dedication to the pagan black metal tradition.
