Kêltikah formed in 2007 in the Community of Madrid, emerging during a fertile period for Spanish folk metal when many bands were blending traditional instruments with heavy metal frameworks. Their sound was rooted in Celtic‑inspired melodies, driven by bagpipes, flutes, and violin, supported by melodic guitar work and rhythmic structures typical of Iberian folk‑metal. Although their activity remained underground and their discography limited, Kêltikah became known locally for their energetic performances and their ability to merge festive folk elements with a heavier metallic backbone.
Their only known release, the 2012 demo 7 sombras, captured the essence of their style: lively folk instrumentation layered over mid‑tempo metal riffs, with a strong emphasis on melody and atmosphere. The demo circulated within the Madrid folk‑metal scene and was appreciated for its authenticity and the interplay between bagpipes, violin, and guitars—an approach reminiscent of early Spanish folk‑metal pioneers but with a more intimate, homegrown character.
KĂŞltikah’s lineup featured musicians dedicated to traditional instruments, giving the band a distinctive sonic identity. Bagpipes and flutes, performed by Harlak, were central to their sound, while the violin—first with Notwen and later with MĂłnica—added a lyrical, emotional dimension. Dual vocalists, Ulfson and later JosĂ©, contributed contrasting styles that enriched the band’s dynamic range.
Despite their promise and the strong folk‑metal scene surrounding them, KĂŞltikah disbanded around 2013, leaving behind a single demo and a legacy tied to the vibrant, communal spirit of Madrid’s folk‑metal underground. Their music remains a snapshot of a scene where traditional culture and metal energy intertwined with enthusiasm and sincerity.
