Kharn was founded in 2024 by Lucas GarcĂa de la Cuadra as a solo project dedicated to the fusion of black metal ferocity with the epic, narrative‑driven spirit of fantasy universes such as Tolkien’s Middle‑Earth and the grimdark cosmos of Warhammer 40K. From the outset, Kharn embraced a raw yet melodic black/folk metal aesthetic, using atmospheric guitar lines, folk‑tinged motifs, and an evocative sense of world‑building to create music that feels both mythic and aggressive.

The project debuted with the single World Eater (2024), a track steeped in the apocalyptic grandeur of Warhammer 40K. Its cold riffing, martial pacing, and cinematic layering introduced Kharn’s defining traits: harsh black‑metal textures intertwined with melodic passages that evoke ancient landscapes and legendary battles.

Later that same year, the EP Songs from Middle‑Earth expanded the project’s scope, shifting toward a more folk‑infused sound inspired by Tolkien’s legendarium. The EP blended atmospheric black metal with melodic, almost bardic elements, capturing the contrast between the beauty of Middle‑Earth and the darkness that threatens it. Underground listeners praised the project’s ability to channel fantasy themes without falling into clichĂ©, instead crafting immersive compositions that feel like musical chapters of a larger saga.

Despite its young age, Kharn has already positioned itself as a promising new voice in the Spanish black/folk metal scene, driven by Lucas’s multi‑instrumental skill and his passion for storytelling through sound. The project continues to evolve, with its dual thematic pillars—Tolkien and Warhammer—offering a vast creative landscape for future releases.
