Metal Cambra, founded in Castellón de la Plana in 2008, is one of the most distinctive instrumental metal ensembles in the Spanish scene. Their music fuses progressive metal structures with folk instrumentation and classical composition techniques, creating a sound that is both technically intricate and melodically rich. Unlike most folk‑metal bands, Metal Cambra is entirely instrumental, allowing their arrangements—flute, violin, bouzouki, mandolin, bagpipes, keyboards, and dual guitars—to carry the narrative without the need for vocals.
Their early demo Metal Eire Overture (2009) introduced a Celtic‑infused, classically structured approach to metal, followed by their first full‑length Suite (2010), which showcased their ability to craft long‑form, multi‑movement compositions. The EP Concertual (2011) captured their live energy, while the 2012 compilation Metal Cambra Recopilatorio gathered their early works into a cohesive retrospective.
With Veles e Vents (2014), the band expanded their sonic palette, integrating Mediterranean folk influences and more elaborate progressive arrangements. Their 2019 album X marked a decade of evolution, presenting a mature, polished, and deeply layered instrumental sound that blends metal virtuosity with the warmth of traditional acoustic instruments.
Metal Cambra stands out for their commitment to instrumental storytelling, their classical sensibility, and their ability to merge folk traditions with modern metal in a way that feels organic and exploratory. Their music appeals equally to fans of progressive metal, Celtic folk, and classical fusion.
