Mileth is one of the most important and artistically ambitious bands to emerge from the modern Galician folk‑metal movement. Formed in Vigo in 2009, the band has built a deeply immersive sound rooted in Galician mythology, ancestral memory, and traditional music, blending these elements with pagan metal, folk instrumentation, and atmospheric arrangements. Their work stands out for its authenticity, linguistic devotion, and the sheer richness of its instrumentation.

Their early demo Cancioneiro da Enxebre Escuridade (2012) introduced a raw but evocative foundation, combining traditional melodies with metal structures. The 2014 single …e na Novena Onda caeron os Deuses expanded their mythological scope, while the 2016 compilation Recolleita dos Demos que han de ser Esquecidos gathered early material and rare tracks, documenting the band’s formative years.

In 2019, Mileth released their monumental debut full‑length, Catro Pregarias no Albor da LĂşa Morta, a sprawling and meticulously crafted album that quickly became a landmark in Iberian pagan metal. The record blends harsh and clean vocals, layered folk instruments (bouzouki, hurdy‑gurdy, whistles, bagpipes, violin), and atmospheric passages that evoke forests, rituals, and ancient deities. Its structure—divided into four “prayers”—reflects a ceremonial, narrative approach that sets Mileth apart from more conventional folk‑metal acts.

The band’s lineup has evolved over the years, but their core identity remains tied to Galicia’s cultural and mythological heritage. Their music is sung in Galician, reinforcing their commitment to regional tradition and linguistic preservation. Members also participate in other key Galician folk‑metal projects such as Metalxis, Xhamain, and Dioivo, contributing to a vibrant and interconnected scene.

Mileth continues to perform and evolve, carrying forward a vision of pagan metal that is atmospheric, ritualistic, and deeply rooted in the land and stories of Galicia.
