Naakhum is one of the most unusual, prolific, and conceptually eccentric projects in the Iberian extreme‑metal underground. Founded in 2007 by Naakhurz, the project has moved between Catalonia and Serbia, absorbing influences from both regions while maintaining a fiercely individualistic identity. Naakhum’s music began as raw black metal infused with dark ambient textures, but over time evolved into a hybrid of blackened folk metal, ritual electronics, and conspiratorial myth‑making.

The project’s early works—Procella (2008), Anunnaki (2010), and the first full‑length Backward in the Times: Part I (2010)—established Naakhum’s fascination with ancient astronaut theories, Sumerian mythology, and esoteric cosmology. These releases blended lo‑fi black metal with atmospheric synths and a conceptual framework centered on extraterrestrial origins of humanity. The 2012 sequel, Backward in the Times: Part II, expanded this mythos with a more refined sound and stronger folk elements.

Between 2014 and 2016, Naakhum entered a highly experimental phase, releasing singles and collaborations that incorporated Serbian folk influences (Š—Š¼Š°Ń˜ŠµŠ²ŃŠŗŠø језик, Ancestral Serbia) and politically charged themes (Ecofascism, Al‑CIA‑da). This period marked a shift toward a more eclectic, genre‑fluid approach—still rooted in black metal, but increasingly shaped by folk instrumentation, electronic textures, and ideological provocation.

From 2020 onward, Naakhum entered its most prolific era. Albums like Cathalunya ancestral (2020), Perspectiva còsmica (2021), Crisi de civilització (2022), Vells ressons (2023), and the 2024 double strike Llums i ombres and FerĆ©stec show a project constantly mutating. These works blend blackened folk metal with ambient passages, field recordings, Catalan folk motifs, and a conceptual obsession with cosmic cycles, societal collapse, and anti‑globalist narratives.

Naakhum’s discography is vast, restless, and defiantly unconventional. It stands as a personal cosmology expressed through metal, folklore, and conspiratorial imagination—an ongoing chronicle of one artist’s attempt to reinterpret myth, history, and politics through sound.
