Ravenblood is a melodic death metal band from Cornellà de Llobregat, Catalonia, active since 2011 and known for evolving from an epic folk/death metal foundation into a more modern, melodic, and polished sound. Their early material blended heroic atmospheres, folk‑tinged melodies, and battle‑driven themes, while their later work embraced a sharper, more contemporary melodeath approach with strong emphasis on hooks, emotional intensity, and dynamic songwriting.
The band debuted with a self‑titled demo and the single Promenade in 2011, quickly gaining attention in the Spanish underground for their energetic blend of folk elements and melodic aggression. In 2012 they released Your Conceit, Your Fetters, both as a single and a compilation, marking their first significant step toward a more refined and powerful sound.
Their first full‑length, Beyond the Ghost’s Pride (2013), established Ravenblood as one of the rising names in Spanish melodic death metal. The album combined epic atmospheres with fast, melodic riffing and a strong sense of narrative, earning positive reception from fans of both folk‑influenced metal and Scandinavian‑styled melodeath.
After several years of lineup changes and musical maturation, the band returned with Essentia (2018), a record that showcased a more modern production and a shift toward a heavier, more streamlined melodic death metal identity. The album strengthened their presence in the national scene and led to collaborations with On Fire Records, supporting their growth through touring and festival appearances.
In 2021 Ravenblood released a trio of singles—Resurgent, Silence & Death, and Love or Truth—culminating in the full‑length Resurgent the same year. This period marked a creative resurgence, with the band embracing a more emotional and anthemic approach while maintaining their melodic intensity.
Their momentum continued with In Our Veins (2023) and a series of singles in 2024–2025, including Ravenblood, Absence, and Black Diamond. The full‑length Absence (2025) represents their most mature and polished work to date, blending powerful melodic death metal with atmospheric elements and introspective themes. The album highlights the band’s evolution from epic folk roots to a modern, emotionally charged melodeath sound.
Ravenblood remain active under On Fire Records, performing across Spain and steadily expanding their audience through consistent releases, strong production values, and a commitment to melodic intensity.
