Razak is a melodic black/death metal project from Madrid, active since 2020 and shaped around a deeply emotional and introspective musical identity. Their sound blends the cold aggression of black metal with the melodic sensibilities of death metal, creating a style marked by melancholic guitar lines, atmospheric layering, and vocals that channel despair, anxiety, and psychological turmoil. The project emerged during the pandemic years, a context that strongly influenced its thematic focus on isolation, inner conflict, and existential suffering.

Their debut EP Eclipse (2020) introduced Razak’s core aesthetic: melodic yet bleak, driven by expressive guitar work and a raw emotional charge. The EP circulated through underground digital platforms, gaining attention for its sincerity and its ability to merge Scandinavian‑influenced melodic black/death metal with a personal, introspective tone.

In 2021, Razak released two tribute singles—Cradle of Filth’s The Principle of Evil Made Flesh and Windir’s Journey to the End. These covers highlighted the band’s influences and showcased their ability to reinterpret iconic tracks through their own atmospheric and melancholic lens. Both releases helped expand their visibility within the Spanish underground and among fans of melodic black metal.

Their second EP, Our Darkest Bloom (2023), marked a significant step forward in songwriting and production. The release delves deeper into themes of psychological decay, emotional collapse, and the search for meaning within suffering. The EP’s sound is more cohesive and mature, with layered guitars, dynamic structures, and a strong melodic backbone that reinforces the project’s identity. Underground listeners praised the EP for its emotional depth and its balance between aggression and melody.

Razak remains an independent project, driven by a DIY ethos and a small but dedicated following. Their music continues to explore the darker corners of the human mind, using melodic black/death metal as a vehicle for catharsis and emotional expression.
