Sapere Aude is a power/folk metal band from Valencia, active since 2011 and dedicated to bringing Valencian folklore, legends, and cultural identity into a modern metal framework. Their music blends energetic power‑metal riffing with folk instrumentation—especially violin—and melodic keyboard arrangements, creating a sound that is both festive and dramatic. The band’s name, Latin for “dare to know”, reflects their mission: to explore and reinterpret the stories, traditions, and mythic imagery of their homeland.

Their debut album Lista negra (2016) introduced their core identity: fast, melodic guitars, violin‑driven folk lines, and lyrics rooted in local tales and historical imagination. After a period of lineup changes, Sapere Aude returned with renewed strength, releasing the single Viejo juglar (2019), which marked the beginning of a more polished and mature era.

From 2020 onward, the band entered a productive phase. Singles like Sangre y sal (2020), Lanza al brujo monedas (2021), and the EP Aqua Ignisque (2021) expanded their sonic palette with richer orchestrations and a stronger folk presence. Their music increasingly embraced Valencian identity, incorporating regional melodies and themes tied to local mythology, seasonal rites, and traditional characters.

In 2025, Sapere Aude released a new wave of material—Som Primavera, Demonis, and the EP Sants e Demonis (Vincit Omnia Veritas Acto II)—showing a band fully confident in its cultural and musical direction. These works deepen their exploration of Valencian mythic dualities: saints and demons, light and shadow, ritual and celebration.

Sapere Aude remains active under Art Gates Records, continuing to build a unique space within Spanish folk and power metal through their commitment to regional storytelling and melodic craftsmanship.
