Skogen Kallar was a melodic black metal band from Barcelona, active in the mid‑2000s and named after the Swedish phrase “the forest calls”, a fitting reflection of their atmospheric, nature‑driven aesthetic. Their music blended raw black‑metal foundations with melodic guitar lines and a cold, northern‑inspired mood, echoing Scandinavian influences while remaining rooted in the Spanish underground scene.
Their only known release, the self‑titled demo Skogen Kallar (2007), captured the essence of their sound: tremolo‑driven riffs, harsh vocals, and a melancholic melodic sensibility. The demo circulated in limited underground circles and became a small cult item among collectors of Iberian black metal. Although the band showed promise, no further releases followed, and they eventually split up without an official announcement.
Skogen Kallar remains one of those brief but intriguing footnotes in Spanish black metal—bands that appeared, left a single atmospheric imprint, and vanished back into the forest that inspired them.
