Sworn formed in Bergen in 2005 as a melodic black metal band shaped by cold, driving riffwork and an abstract lyrical focus that set them apart from the more traditional thematic currents of the region. From the beginning their sound balanced aggression with clarity, favoring sharp melodic lines, tight rhythmic structures, and a modern approach to production that emphasized precision over rawness. The Night Supremacy demo (2005) introduced this aesthetic with a blend of speed, atmosphere, and disciplined songwriting.

Their debut full‑length The Alleviation (2007) established Sworn as a rising force within Norway’s melodic black metal landscape, marked by sweeping melodies and a sense of controlled intensity. Bastards and Conquerors (2009) pushed the band toward a more forceful and dynamic expression, while the Doomlights EP (2013) refined their atmospheric edge. With Dark Stars and Eternity (2018), Sworn delivered a mature and expansive work, deepening their melodic identity and embracing a darker, more cosmic tone.

Recent releases—including the singles Calamity Sea and Grand Eclipse and the 2023 full‑length A Journey Told Through Fire—show a band continuing to evolve while remaining rooted in the melodic precision and abstract emotional palette that have defined their music since the beginning.
