Takeskogen is an obscure atmospheric black metal project from Syktyvkar, operating deep within the Komi Republic’s harsh northern landscape. Very little is known about the project’s origins or activity period, but its music reflects the cold, hostile environment from which it emerged. Takeskogen’s sound is raw, minimalistic, and driven by a stark emotional palette—icy tremolo riffs, primitive percussion, and a vocal delivery steeped in contempt and northern severity. The project’s thematic focus on the North and Hate aligns it with the harsher, more misanthropic wing of Russian atmospheric black metal.
The earliest known release, the demo Path of Chaos (2009), introduced Takeskogen’s stripped‑down approach: lo‑fi production, repetitive riff structures, and a bleak, unforgiving atmosphere. The music evokes frozen forests, desolate tundra, and the emotional isolation characteristic of many northern Russian projects.
