Taranus is one of the defining voices of modern Asturian folk metal, active since 2009 and rooted deeply in the Celtic traditions of northern Spain. Their music blends heavy metal and hard rock with Asturian bagpipes, whistles, medieval instrumentation, and multi‑vocal arrangements, creating a sound that is both celebratory and politically conscious. Their lyrics draw from Asturian and pan‑Celtic mythology, medieval epics, and progressive social themes, giving the band a unique identity within the Iberian folk‑metal landscape.

Their self‑titled debut Taranus (2012) introduced their powerful mix of melodic metal, Celtic folk, and dual‑vocal interplay. By the time they released Ánima (2016), the band had refined their sound into something more expansive and emotional, with richer orchestrations, stronger vocal harmonies, and a deeper connection to Asturian cultural heritage.

Taranus remains active, continuing to represent the Asturian Celtic tradition within Spanish metal while maintaining a strong melodic and narrative focus.
