Ter is a Catalan atmospheric black/folk metal project centered entirely around Nil Lapedra, who composes, performs, and records all instruments and vocals. The project blends mist‑soaked atmospheric black metal, melancholic folk passages, and acoustic textures—often driven by accordion, clean guitars, and layered keyboards. The result is a sound that feels intimate, rural, and deeply tied to the landscapes of Catalonia.

Thematically, Ter leans toward nostalgia, memory, and the quiet melancholy of nature, with a strong sense of place. The music often shifts between raw black‑metal intensity and reflective folk interludes, creating a dynamic emotional arc across each release.

Their debut EP Homeward Bound (2022) introduced this duality: cold atmospheric riffs contrasted with warm folk instrumentation. The full‑length Vestigis (2023) expanded the project’s scope, offering a more mature and immersive sound—windswept, melodic, and introspective. In 2025, Ter released El darrer galop, a work that further deepens the project’s folk roots while maintaining its black‑metal backbone.

Ter stands out in the Catalan underground for its ability to merge atmospheric black metal with genuine regional folk sensibilities, all through the singular vision of one musician.
