The Troll is a raw and atmospheric black‑metal project from Spain, active since 2019 and driven entirely by a single musician known simply as The Troll. The project embraces a deliberately primitive, abrasive sound—icy riffs, cavernous ambience, and a lo‑fi aesthetic that aligns with the Spanish raw‑black underground. At the same time, there is a strong atmospheric undercurrent: long, hypnotic passages, melancholic melodies buried under distortion, and a sense of solitary, feral mysticism.
Their debut full‑length Misantrollpia (2020) is the project’s only known release so far, and it captures the essence of The Troll’s approach: raw aggression fused with bleak, fog‑drenched atmosphere.
