Ulfsark began in 2014 as part of the Madrid underground, initially embracing epic Viking/power metal—heroic melodies, galloping riffs, and mythological storytelling. Over time, their sound evolved toward a heavier, more aggressive melodic death‑metal approach, while retaining the Nordic thematic core that defines the band’s identity.
Their debut EP Einherjar (2016) reflects the early Viking/power‑metal phase: triumphant riffs, clean‑leaning vocals, and mythic atmospheres. By the time they released Winter Tales (2021), the band had shifted into a sharper, more modern melodic‑death sound—tighter riffing, harsher vocals, and a colder, more dramatic tone.
Ulfsark remains active and independent, continuing to refine their hybrid of Viking‑inspired storytelling and melodic extremity.
