Веретрагор was an atmospheric black metal project from Oktyabrsky, emerging in 2007 after the dissolution or transformation of the earlier band Сварга. While Сварга leaned toward pagan black metal with a rawer edge, Веретрагор refined that foundation into a more atmospheric, occult‑infused form—still rooted in pagan themes, but darker, more introspective, and more ritualistic in tone.
The band’s sound blended cold tremolo riffs with prominent keyboards, creating a mist‑shrouded, mythic atmosphere. Their music evokes the spiritual landscape of Bashkortostan: forests, ancient deities, and the liminal spaces between pagan tradition and occult mysticism. The presence of keyboards—handled by Chernaya Annis—gave the project a distinctive melodic and ceremonial character, setting it apart from many contemporaries in the region.
Their debut demo Сны Чернобога (2007) introduced this aesthetic with lo‑fi production and a strong emphasis on atmosphere over aggression. The EP Чёрное золото (2008) expanded the band’s sonic palette, adding more dynamic guitar work and deeper exploration of occult themes.
The full‑length Могила небес (2009) stands as the project’s most complete artistic statement: a cold, melodic, and ritualistic album that balances raw black metal with sweeping keyboard passages and mournful, pagan‑tinged melodies. It remains their best‑known work and a notable entry in the Bashkortostan black metal underground.
The compilation Исход (2010) marked the end of the project, gathering material and closing the chapter on a band that had evolved rapidly but burned out quickly. After 2010, all members moved on to other projects, many returning to or branching from the earlier Сварга lineage.
