Warskull formed in Haugesund in 2015 as an atmospheric black metal project driven entirely by Sinmortigo, whose prolific output and bleak thematic focus defined the band’s identity from the beginning. Rooted in depression, suicide, and death, Warskull’s music embraced a raw, sorrow‑laden atmosphere shaped by cold tremolo lines, minimalist production, and an unfiltered emotional intensity. The project quickly became known for its relentless pace of releases, each one expanding on a vision steeped in despair and isolation.

The early EPs and singles of 2015—Tod ist ewig, The Angel South of the Sun, Eleven Years in the Depths of Hell, and the Ghosts of Dejection split—established Warskull’s foundation: lo‑fi, atmospheric black metal marked by anguished vocals and a suffocating sense of hopelessness. This momentum continued into 2016 with the full‑lengths Leave Me in the Rain and It Ends with Broken Hearts…, works that deepened the project’s depressive tone while introducing more melodic undercurrents.

Between 2017 and 2019, Warskull entered its most prolific phase, releasing a torrent of EPs, singles, and full‑length albums—including Impaled Seraphim, The King of Rats, At the Bottom of Lifes Ocean, As the Sun Sets, and May the Vultures Eat Me. These recordings captured a project in constant motion, channeling emotional collapse, personal ruin, and existential exhaustion into a vast, unbroken body of work. The music remained raw and intimate, often sounding like a direct transmission from the depths of isolation.

The later years brought further refinement without softening the project’s core bleakness. Releases such as As I Long for Better Days (2020), Forfeiting My Future (2020), and the Woeful EP continued to explore themes of loss and emotional disintegration. Warskull’s final single, Swansong (2022), served as a fitting epitaph—somber, resigned, and steeped in the same despair that had defined the project from its inception.

Warskull disbanded in 2022, leaving behind an extensive and deeply personal discography that stands as a testament to Sinmortigo’s uncompromising vision: atmospheric black metal as a vessel for unfiltered sorrow, emotional collapse, and the stark finality of death.
