Lándevir, hailing from Elda in the Valencian Community, stands as one of Spain’s most enduring and beloved melodic folk metal bands. Their origins trace back to 1998 under the name Unknown, later becoming RĂvendell before adopting the definitive Lándevir identity in 2002. From the beginning, the band embraced a fusion of heavy/power metal foundations with Celtic and medieval folk instrumentation, creating a sound rich in melody, narrative, and emotional resonance. Their lyrical universe draws heavily from Tolkien, Iberian and Celtic folklore, medieval tales, and themes of love, introspection, and the human journey.

Their debut Leyendas medievales (2003) established them as a rising force in Spanish folk metal, praised for its energetic blend of metal riffs, flute and violin arrangements, and epic storytelling. Sueños celtas (2006) expanded their melodic palette, offering more refined songwriting and a stronger Celtic identity, while Inmortal (2008) showcased a heavier, more mature sound without abandoning their folk essence. These early albums positioned Lándevir alongside Spain’s most respected folk‑metal acts, earning them a loyal following and frequent appearances in national festivals.

After a hiatus between 2010 and 2013, the band returned revitalized, gradually releasing new material that culminated in the full‑length Desde el silencio (2018). This album marked a significant evolution, featuring modern production, powerful vocal performances, and a renewed emotional depth. The singles released between 2016 and 2023—Amor prohibido, El espĂritu del viento, Volver, Leyendas del medievo, Never Stop Dreaming, El mañana ya vendrá, and Creencias del ayer—demonstrated the band’s ability to balance nostalgia with contemporary melodic sensibilities.

In 2024, Lándevir released Un viaje en el tiempo, a full‑length that reaffirmed their identity while exploring new emotional and conceptual territories. The album reflects the band’s long journey, weaving together their signature folk instrumentation, uplifting melodies, and lyrical themes rooted in fantasy, memory, and the passage of time. Their continued presence under Maldito Records has helped bring their music to a wider audience, solidifying their legacy as one of Spain’s most consistent and heartfelt folk metal projects.
