Metalxis is a Galician instrumental folk‑metal ensemble from Vigo and Pontevedra, built around the unmistakable sound of multiple Galician bagpipes supported by a full metal band. Formed in 2015, they fuse the melodic richness of traditional Galician folk with the drive of melodic metal, creating a sound that is festive, powerful, and unmistakably rooted in their homeland. Their music is entirely instrumental, allowing the interplay of bagpipes, hurdy‑gurdy, guitars, and rhythm section to carry all the emotional and narrative weight.

Their debut full‑length, My White Shadow (2019), established Metalxis as one of the most vibrant instrumental folk‑metal acts in Spain. The album blends Celtic‑inspired melodies with modern metal arrangements, often featuring layered pipes and folk instruments over energetic riffs. The result is a sound that feels both traditional and contemporary, celebratory yet technically refined.

Metalxis stands out for its large bagpipe section, an uncommon feature even within folk metal. This gives their compositions a choral, almost orchestral folk timbre, supported by the rhythmic precision of their metal backbone. Their connection to the Galician folk tradition is further reinforced by the presence of musicians also active in bands like Mileth and Xhamain, two pillars of the modern Galician folk‑metal movement.
