Natural Death was a melodic black/death metal band from Madrid, active from 1994 into the mid‑2000s, though the exact dissolution date is unknown. Their sound evolved from early melodic black metal—cold tremolo riffs, harsh vocals, and atmospheric keyboards—into a more polished melodic death‑metal approach marked by dual guitars and a heavier rhythmic foundation.
The band released two known recordings: the 1998 promo The Winter Embrace, which circulated in tape‑trading circles, and the 2005 EP The Nameless Place, their most developed and accessible work. Both releases remain rare, with little surviving documentation, making Natural Death one of the many semi‑lost names of the Madrid underground.
Despite their obscurity, the band’s lineup included musicians who later became active in other notable Spanish extreme‑metal projects, especially within the Madrid scene’s black/death and avant‑garde branches.
