Years active:

Omendark emerged from Barakaldo in 2001, rising from the ashes of Desecrate and becoming one of the earliest Basque projects to fuse raw black metal with pagan and Celtiberian themes. Their sound is harsh, atmospheric, and steeped in regional identity—ritualistic melodies, folk instrumentation, and lyrics tied to ancient Basque and Celtic mythologies.

The band’s early demos—Demo 2003 and Antzinako Herriaren Birjaiotza (2004)—established their pagan black‑metal foundation. Their split releases with Na Fraga do Norte, Nakkiga, and others helped solidify their place within the Iberian underground, especially through the Draug‑DĂ»r circle, which championed raw pagan black metal across Spain.

Omendark’s last known activity was the Nakkiga / Omendark split in 2012. Since then, the project has remained dormant but never officially disbanded. Given the members’ involvement in other northern Iberian pagan‑metal projects, Omendark persists as a name with deep roots and unfinished potential.
