Sangdragon

France — Mâcon, Saône-et-Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté — Symphonic Black/Death Metal

Biography

Sangdragon is a French symphonic black/death metal band from Mâcon, founded in 1995 after earlier incarnations as Daemonium (1993–1995) and Akhenaton (1995–1999). Revived in 2011 under the name Sangdragon, the project blends medieval themes, fantasy, and occult symbolism with orchestral arrangements and extreme metal foundations. Their sound is characterized by dramatic symphonic layers, ritualistic atmospheres, and a strong narrative dimension rooted in ancient rites and esoteric imagery. Signed to Wake Up Dead Records, Sangdragon has released several albums and splits that showcase their evolution from raw early material to a more elaborate and cinematic approach. The band has also appeared on compilations such as Metallian Metal Tracker N°8 with the track “Winged Blade.”
