Biography

Abbas Taeter is an atmospheric black metal band from Potenza, Italy, formed in 2007 and currently active under Fauno Extreme Art. Notably, founding member La Man Can previously collaborated with Valkus in the long-running project Valkiria, a connection that echoes through Abbas Taeter’s ritualistic sound.

Emerging from the shadows of Basilicata, Abbas Taeter channels occult themes through dense, atmospheric compositions that blend raw black metal textures with ambient ritualism. After an initial period of activity, the band entered a hiatus and later reunited in December 2011, continuing its sonic explorations with renewed intensity.

The band’s lineage is deeply entwined with the Italian underground: Mancan, its central figure, was also a key contributor to Valkiria, a project led by Valkus that has spanned multiple decades and genres, from doom-laden black metal to cinematic ambient. This shared history infuses Abbas Taeter’s music with a sense of continuity and spiritual depth — a bridge between esoteric traditions and modern blackened atmospheres.

Their releases under Fauno Extreme Art reflect a commitment to introspective darkness, often invoking themes of mysticism, solitude, and metaphysical decay. Though details remain deliberately sparse, the band’s presence in Italy’s ritual metal circles marks them as a cult entity — one that continues to evolve in silence and shadow.
