Aesis is a black metal band from Rome, Italy, formed in 2015 and active under the banner of independent ritualism. Their sound blends raw aggression with atmospheric depth, channeling themes of war, death, and ancient memory.

The project emerged from the Roman underground with a clear intent: to evoke the spirit of battle and the weight of ancestral legacy through black metal. Their debut full-length, Ars moriendi, released in 2016, established a sonic identity rooted in traditional black metal fury, enriched by ambient passages and martial undertones.

Aesis operates without label affiliation, maintaining a sovereign and uncompromising stance. Their lyrical themes — war, death, and memory — are not mere abstractions but invocations of historical trauma and spiritual endurance. The band’s name itself evokes echoes of ancient Italic tribes and forgotten rites, aligning them with a deeper current of Mediterranean esotericism.

The lineup includes members known only by initials: A., D., and S., reinforcing the project’s aura of anonymity and ritual focus. Though their discography remains concise, Aesis stands as a testament to Rome’s enduring contribution to the Italian black metal tradition — fierce, atmospheric, and steeped in mythic resonance.
