Avoid the Light was a post-black metal band from Mantua, Lombardy, Italy, active from 2013 to 2020. Their music explored themes of loneliness, melancholy, drug-induced desolation, and the fragile balance between light and darkness.

Signed to War Against Yourself Records, the band carved a niche in Italy’s underground with emotionally raw compositions that blended black metal’s bleakness with post-metal’s introspective atmosphere. Their sound likely featured slow-burning riffs, anguished vocals, and ambient textures — a sonic mirror to inner collapse and existential drift.

Avoid the Light contributed the track “Autumn’s End Dream” to the compilation Black Metal Narcoleptica Vol. 5 (Narcoleptica Productions, 2015), suggesting a connection to depressive and narcotic black metal aesthetics. Though their discography remains limited and no full-length releases are listed, their thematic focus and regional presence mark them as a contemplative force within the Italian scene.

The band split up in 2020, leaving behind a brief but poignant legacy — a flicker in the dark, where music became a ritual of emotional exposure.
