Carpathian Forest is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Sandnes, Rogaland. Emerging from the ashes of Enthrone (1990–1992), they consecrated their name in 1992 and became known for their raw, misanthropic sound and provocative themes. Their music blends traditional black metal with punk, death, and rock elements, often laced with nihilism, anti-Christian sentiment, and dark humor.
The band’s lyrical obsessions include death, nature, perversion, and existential decay. Their early demos — Bloodlust and Perversion and Journey Through the Cold Moors of Svarttjern — are considered cult artifacts, while albums like Black Shining Leather and Defending the Throne of Evil expanded their sonic ritual into more atmospheric and melodic territories.
Carpathian Forest is both a desecration and a celebration: a voice of the forest that does not whisper, but screams.
